The 'Kult of Gaming' is Wilfrid Laurier University's gaming club. Our main purpose is to let students meet and hang out with other students with similar interests.
Contrary to our name, we specialize in actually fairly casual and welcoming Board Games, Card Games, Video Games, and Tabletop RPGs. We traditionally have weekly meet-ups Tuesday night where any gaming goes, along with a Sunday RPG campaign. We also periodically have other dedicated events throughout the year, like our 72 Hour Pathfinder RPG event.
Some events we've done in the past include LAN Gaming Days and Magic: The Gathering Drafts. If you're interested in doing anything we're not doing right now, give us a shout so we can collect and gauge interest!
If you're interested in 'joining', all our events are drop-in, so just get on our weekly update email list and come out and see if it interests you!
The club owns a decent selection of board games that are sometimes played at Tuesday gaming, but we also do dedicated nights to play them.
Card gaming is welcome on our Tuesday nights. Magic: The Gathering is always a favourite, especially the EDH variation, but if you have interest in other card games let us know on the Facebook group and you may find someone else with a similar interest to play.
In the past we've done weekend Magic Drafts and there's been talk of doing it again if interest in Magic spikes.
The club owns a TV, Nintendo Wii, a set of GameCube controllers, and a Wii U GameCube controller adaptor. We also have a growing collection of local multiplayer PC games. Check out our list of games below. Video games are usually played on Tuesday nights, and everyone is encouraged to bring their own video game stuff to KoG!
In the past we've done weekly, mostly casual, Smash Bros. Nights since it's proven popular. We do have Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, controllers, and a Wii U GameCube controller adaptor to encourage people who might bring a Wii U. If you're really into competitive Melee though, also check out the school's dedicated Smash Bros. club.
League of Legends and other online games are also popular, but mostly for casual play. Let people know on the Facebook group and you may find people interested in playing. If you're looking for something less casual, you can also try to find WLU's eSports club.
In our regular Sunday Game you’ll play as one of the newest recruits in the Guild of Heroes, where you’ll go on quests to aid the people of the land, battle enemies, solve mysteries, and earn a name for yourself as an adventurer!

If you already have a character prepared, come to have it reviewed and entered as an official character on our campaign wiki!
Don’t know much about 5th edition D&D? No problem! We’ve got people who can help explain the rules and create a character with you! We also have plenty of supplies, including pencils, character sheets, extra dice, and rule books, so you can literally bring nothing! (We’d appreciate if you bring those things if you have them though)
Also, look out around the start of the Winter semester for our annual 72-Hour Pathfinder RPG for Child's Play!
